Description Jim Knopf 2010-09-09 18:57:18 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100723 SUSE/3.6.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.6.8

I have issues after kernel-update to version 2.6.34.4-0.1.

When typing (wherever) there are delays in keyboard-response whereby single random characters are even omitted, especially often the first character when one begins typing and 'returns'. Very annoying!

Kernel-downgrade via yast to an earlier kernel-version solves the problem immediately !!!

The system used is:
OpenSuse 11.3 x64 on Intel Core 2 Duo 6750, Intel P35/ICH9 chipset, nvidia 8600gt graphics controller, the latest rpm-drivers from download.nvidia.com for opensuse installed, Desktop used is KDE4/Compiz.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Kernel-update to 2.6.34.4-0.1 via yast online-update
2. Reboot, no further changes made
3.
Actual Results:
Delays in keyboard-response whereby single random characters are even omitted, especially the first character when one begins typing and 'returns'.

i can confirm this bug on 11.3. a downgrade to the kernel from repo-oss solves the problems immediately.

description:
1. keystrokes (often the first one) are not recognized sometimes
2. external/second display (set up at kde-login via xrandr) is corrupted:
- the desktop is shifted around 4 cm to the left, the missing part of the desktop is displayed on the right border of the screen.
- the mouse position is also wrong: when i open a context menu in kde systray, the menu opens correcly a the mouse position, but it is the menu which belongs to an application icon 4 cm on the left.
- the first display (laptop lvds) is correct

system: opensuse 11.3, kde 4.5, intel GM45 with updated packages from:
