Bugzilla – Bug 643374
xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2 does not launch YaST
Last modified: 2010-11-17 16:22:02 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/1.0.2-0.1 StumbleUpon/1.9993 Firefux/3.6.6 After the instalation of the XFCE Selection (So no KDE or GNOME) with the DVD when selecting YaST with the menu, the application `xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2` starts and asks for the password. After that a short message is seen and the terminal closes. This means no YaST2 can be launched from the menu. When I try `xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2` it will result in the same issue by not launching YaST2 When I try it with yast instead of yast2, yast launches as expected in CLI mode. When I first do `su -` and then enter `/sbin/yast2` it launches without a problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install XFCE 2. Go to menu, System, YaST 3. Enter password 4. No launch of YaST2 Actual Results: YaST GUI does not launch Expected Results: YaST GUI should launch
This is not specific to YaST but due to a problem with glib. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 648558 ***
