Attempting to launch certain applications from the command-line fails with no feedback or error messages produced.  This seems to occur only as super-user.  Applications that have so far been noted as affected are Kwrite and Dolphin, whereas Frozen-Bubble works fine.  Details for reproducing follow.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.  Start Konsole as a regular user
2.  Become super-user using the "su" command
3.  Attempt to run Kwrite by entering "kwrite" on the command-line

(alternatively, you could attempt to run another application like Dolphin)
Actual Results:  
The command appears to run and finish, but no application appears on the screen and no feedback is given on the command-line.  The prompt re-appears to wait for the next command after less than a second.  Kwrite does not even appear to start (as distinct from a start-and-crash).

Expected Results:  
The Kwrite window appears on the screen, running with root permissions.

Does it work if you use 'su -' instead of 'su'?

Using 'su -' instead of 'su' does indeed allow Kwrite to launch.  I have attached the launch feedback to this bug report.  I have also confirmed that it is present in M4.

Ok it's a dup (and an upstream bug).

Hold on, how come I didn't get this behaviour until 11.4 M4 and never once
before?  If it was an upstream bug, shouldn't it have shown up before now, and
in every release since it was reported?
