Bugzilla – Bug 657718
kwin package does not contain window decoration "ozone"
Last modified: 2010-12-07 17:03:03 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Firefox/3.6.12 The following files have been omitted from the package "kwin" in 11.3: kwin3_ozone.so kwin_ozone_config.so (both installed in /usr/lib64/kde4/) and ozoneclient.desktop (installed in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kwin/) I found the "ozone" window decoration (as used in 11.2) to be very presentable and I'd like to see it return to 11.3 and the upcoming 11.4 please (at least as an option, if not a default setting). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 11.3. 2. Login to kde. 3. Observe the window decoration. Actual Results: No "ozone" window decoration option available in: System Settings | Look & Feel | Appearance | Windows | Window Decoration Expected Results: Expected to find "ozone" window decoration. It's certainly only a cosmetic problem but I do want my kde desktop to look its best, so I have reported this as a bug. Please advise me if this is the right place for this as I'm not sure if I should be filing this as a feature request on openFATE. As for a work around, because I was upgrading my HD as I installed 11.3, I just copied the three missing files from the 11.2 installation on my old HD to where they should go. I then found the "ozone" option in: System Settings | Look & Feel | Appearance | Windows | Window Decoration and selected it. It is now active on my windows. This window decoration was also been omitted from i586 package.
Ozone was dropped upstream. But you should be able to configure the 'new' Oxygen to nearly look as Ozone. Sorry but this bug has to be closed as WONTFIX. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160627 for more information and why it probably will not come back.
Hi Christian, Thanks for your time. I've had a quick look at the link you posted, the ozone issue seems to have raised some people's blood pressure, so I'll probably stay out of that one. I have a couple of questions though: 1) Will windows in 11.4 look as nice as those in 11.2 (or better)? 2) If windows in 11.4 look the same as windows in 11.3, will my work around still work? Thanks, Bruno
No need to be sorry as I think closing as a "WONTFIX" is probably the best thing to do here. I've taken it upstream to KDE (#259144), so we'll see what happens... http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259144
