Description Ludwig Nussel 2011-10-14 14:30:44 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #723404 +++

/dev/vda2 -> luks -> lvm pv -> lvm lv -> ext4 -> /var

systemd shows a password prompt at boot. One can enter the password
(systemd shows stars) but then nothing happens until you are dropped
into emergency mode. If I run "systemctl start
cryptsetup@cr_vda2.service" then the password entry is shown again
but this time the device actually gets unlocked and the system
continues booting normally after logging out. According to the log
the first try to start the service timed out.

Comment 2 Frederic Crozat 2011-10-14 14:35:01 UTC
please reboot with systemd.log_level=debug systemd.log_target=kmsg and give dmesg output.
Comment 3 Ludwig Nussel 2011-10-17 09:29:37 UTC
someone please implement a simple 'debug' option as alias for those two settings :-)

Comment 5 Frederic Crozat 2011-10-19 13:25:32 UTC
reproduced here.

lvm needs to be kick again after crypsetup (we don't get events to do it automatically).

Please test home:fcrozat:systemd / systemd, it should fix this issue.
