Description Christoph Jüschke 2011-10-23 16:19:29 UTC
Acer TravelMate 8104WLMi
NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet
DVD openSUSE 12.1 RC 1 (i586)

network is not automatically activated during DVD installation. Networking can be activated by switching to console and typing "dhcpcd eth0", then online update etc. works, but network manager still does not work at first start, after reboot it works.
Comment 1 Bin Li 2011-10-31 07:54:53 UTC
Reassign it.

Installation in VirtualBox has the same initial problems with networking (therefor I think, it's not my laptops fault)
While the system was checking for online-updates I manually activated networking on terminal "dhcpcd eth0". The log files are attached.
In the initial running system, network manager is not working (white X on red background). After reboot, network manager is fine.
