Bugzilla – Bug 728381
knetworkmanager could not handle MCP51 Ethernet Controller
Last modified: 2011-11-23 20:41:05 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 The ethernet connection fails with knetwork manager, but runs during installation and later on when switching from knetworkmanager to ifup with yast2-Network module. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have the ethernet controller MCP51 Ethernet Controller 2.Install openSUSE12.1 RC2 -> ethernet works! 3.Start the system and have no ethernet/internet with knetwork manager 4.User ifup and have ethernet/internet Expected Results: When the kernel and ifup can handle the ethernet controller, knetworkmanager should also do this.
It´s a Pressario V6133CL network card in a hp pavillion dv6000 laptop
I´ve looked in the kernel logs: There is a entry that shows that d-bus - networkmanager is affected: 2 20:24:46 linux dbus[1198]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.NetworkManager' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service' Nov 2 20:24:46 linux dbus-daemon[1198]: dbus[1198]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.NetworkManager' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service' Nov 2 20:24:46 linux dbus[1198]: [system] Activation via systemd failed for unit 'dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service': Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service failed to load: No such file or directory.
