Bugzilla – Bug 859345
mysql crash with alternative cnf files (my-huge.cnf, my-large.cnf ...)
Last modified: 2023-12-29 12:30:32 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 alternative mysql cnf files my-huge.cnf, my-large.cnf etc. did work with my old installation 11.4 but not with 13.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. download 13.1 to DVD (14.Jan.2014, got openSUSE-13.1-DVD-x86_640091.iso, md5sum 1096c9c67fc8a67a94a32d04a15e909d ) 2. new installation 3. use automatic configuration 4. DO NOT: leave software as proposed (no additional selection), you will not be able to start mysql service, see Bug 846422 5. DO THIS: select all yast software, this will install "System Services (Runlevel)" 6. wait for reboot 7. yast, software management, search mariadb, install 8. yast, System Services (Runlevel), start mysql 9. reboot, console: mysql .... it will start, this was just to verify 10. now we will change the config file to a proposed configuration cp -f /usr/share/mysql/my-huge.cnf /etc/my.cnf 11. reboot, console: mysql ... it will crash 12. in the just replaced file /etc/my.cnf change the line !includedir /etc/mysql 13. to this line !includedir /etc/my.cnf.d 14. reboot, console: mysql .... it will start Actual Results: It works with these additional steps Expected Results: clean alternative mysql config files, (all other versions have the same problem) and not to forget: either: mysql in services manager (Bug 846422) or: when installing MariaDB then the software management loads also the tool for starting it: "System Services (Runlevel)"
Created attachment 576822 [details] patch to adjust includedir
Hi, I'm not quite sure whether it is right to assign it to you, please feel free to reassign whenever necessary, thank you!
The bug is valid for openSUSE 13.2 as well. However we have moved to version 10 so the patch does not apply as it is. I can fix it for the current version but I don't know about the others.
Actually I think that in openSUSE 13.2 it wouldn't crash. Still a better fix is applied in server:database:mariadb. Closing.
