Bugzilla – Bug 865731
download verification cumbersome as md5 file not linked in download GUI
Last modified: 2014-08-06 08:52:41 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 On the page http://software.opensuse.org/131/en it saies md5 checksum is still the most commonly used checksum. Many ISO burners display it right before burning Clicking on the link md5 one gets the page http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/13.1/iso/openSUSE-13.1-DVD-i586.iso.md5 which displays the checksum. I personally download to a file which is shown in the file manager krusader. krusader is able to verify the checksum provided there is a .md5 file somewhere. So I copied the content of the md5 file to a new txt file, saved that, and finally startet the verification process. Things would be easier if clicking on md5 would lead directly to the md5 _file_ which could then be used for the verification. So I suggest having the download page changed accordinly for 13.2. In closing I would like to thank you for the work done for us users. A. Mehl Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
No idea why this feature request regarding software.opensuse.org was assigned to KDE-Maintainers
I fear that this was also not the correct component/assignee.
