CVE-2017-8106 The handle_invept function in arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c in the Linux kernel 3.12 through 3.15 allows privileged KVM guest OS users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and host OS crash) via a single-context INVEPT instruction with a NULL EPT pointer. References: http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2017-8106 http://www.cvedetails.com/cve/CVE-2017-8106/ http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2017-8106
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195167 has the details.... This flaw was introduced in commit bfd0a56b90005f8c8a004baf407ad90045c2b11e (nEPT: Nested INVEPT) and removed in 4b855078601fc422dbac3059f2215e776f49780f (KVM: nVMX: Don't advertise single context invalidation for invept). Therefore there should be two ways to fix this.
Only SLE12-SP1 is affected. I'll backport the fix.
(In reply to Joerg Roedel from comment #2) > Only SLE12-SP1 is affected. I'll backport the fix. Backported to cve/linux-3.12 and pushed for inclusion.
Branch is merged to cve/linux-3.12. Assigning back.
